How to install Ubuntu in windows
7 or latter using Virtual Machine Ware Player
Important instruction for Ubuntu
installation through vmplayer. Follow the instruction.
Ubuntu installation requirements:
- Windows 7 or
higher
- vmware Player
(any version)
- virtual
machine for Ubuntu
- ubuntu-14.04-desktop-i386.iso
NOTE:
to download ubuntu-14.04-desktop-i386.iso follow the instructions below:
Please go to this link
http://releases.ubuntu.com/14.04/
and click on first link on the said page, named:
PC (Intel x86) desktop image
this will download you "ubuntu-14.04-desktop-i386.iso" 970MB.
Now continue the following steps:
to download ubuntu-14.04-desktop-i386.iso follow the instructions below:
Please go to this link
http://releases.ubuntu.com/14.04/
and click on first link on the said page, named:
PC (Intel x86) desktop image
this will download you "ubuntu-14.04-desktop-i386.iso" 970MB.
Now continue the following steps:
1)
First of all you need to install windows 7 in your
computer.
2)
If it is already installed, then download vmware player. For this open
google.com, and type vmplayer .torrent.
3)
Open 6th link i.e. Download VMware Player 6.0.2 - FileHipo.com as shown below
in snapshot.
1)
In the next page, on the top right side of the page, Click
on Download Latest Version (94.23MB) as
shown below in screen shot.
Step 2) After downloading vmware Player, download Virtual Machine for Ubuntu.zip
from VULMS downloads section, in the Page No. 4. as shown below in the
snapshot.
After downloading Virtual
Machine for Ubuntu.zip, extract all of its files and place them at desktop
or somewhere else.
Step 3) Download ubuntu-14.04-desktop-i386.iso
from VULMS under download section.
After downloading all three
needed programs i.e.
Vmware Player 6.0.2
Virtual Machine for Ubuntu.zip
Ubuntu-14.04-desktop-i386.iso
Now install VMware Player, and follow
the instructions.
1) Double click on setup icon, and press Next>
2) In the next step, Click on
I accept the terms license agreement as shown below:
3) Change Destination Folder or click Next>
4) In the next step, uncheck the Check box option Check for product for updates on start up,
and click Next>
5) Also uncheck Help improve VMWare Player, and click Next>
6) In the shortcuts wizard click on Next>
7) Click on Continue
8) Here installation Progress bar is showing below.
9) When setup wizard completes, click on Finish button. Now you have installed vmware player
successfully in your computer.
Now double click on vmware player
from the desktop shortcut icon.
Click on Open a Virtual Machine, and select Virtual Machine for Ubuntu folder (you have downloaded from VULMS
and extracted). From above mentioned folder double click Ubuntu.vmx.
This will show you the following
screen.
Now click on Edit virtual machine settings.
This will shoe you again above
screen. Now click on Play virtual machine.
(NOTE: If you are installing this
process in windows XP SPS-2, then this message will show you. So you are
strongly recommended to install windows 7 or higher and follow the instructions
in the above tutorial. Otherwise, some features will not work properly and it will
take much time to install).
Then select CD/DVD (IDE) from Hardware Tab. Then go to Connection option and
click Use ISO Image file:. From here,
select ubuntu-14.04-desktop-i386.iso
(You have downloaded from VULMS), and press Ok.
After editing virtual machine settings,
click on Play Virtual Machine. Now we are installing Ubuntu in windows 7 using Vmware Player.
Follow the instructions:
One more window will appear which
asks Download and Install or Remind
me Latter. Just click on Download and
Install for better installation.
Your Ubuntu Installation has successfully been completed.
Type your password here and press
Enter.and Enjoy!
